NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — It's a topic that is taken hold in Tennessee: books like "Maus" or "Walk Two Moons" have been pulled from cabinets.

While those books is perhaps banned from some colleges, there is nonetheless somewhere else you'll find them.

"Our job is simply to make sure that if you want it, it is here for you," mentioned Public Information Officer for the Nashville Public Library, Ed Brown.

"'Maus' is all checked out proper now," said Brown. "So we received more copies on order however as soon as phrase bought round about what happened in McMinn County, we bought loads of holds."

Those are just some of the two million other materials at the Nashville Public Library.

"Lots of people do not wish to read these books; they do not want their children to must read these books, or forced to read these books, and that is high-quality," said Brown. "But there are a lot people who do, and we wish to be there for the people who do need to read these materials."

And if you wish to make your love for these materials recognized, what higher method than along with your library card? The 5,000 limited edition cards for the campaign say "I read banned books."

"All of us watch the TV shows that we like; all of us watch the different sports or root for the completely different groups we're part of," said Brown. "Books aren't any different."

The goal is to get the 5,000 library cards in the palms of new sign-ups this month.

"We're not attempting to be a push back — a pressure pushing again in opposition to these selections — we want to be a substitute for say, in case you could not be able to get it there... you will get it right here," said Brown.

The limited version library playing cards are available as long as supplies last.
